Socialist-brother-in-law,

Thanks for your comment.

It could also be said in opposition to my post that the original CAFE standards had a relatively small effect on vehicle price and perhaps quality (though the Ford Pinto was a famous safety hazard built around this time).

Predictions of higher cost were made when refrigerator efficiency standards were introduced in the 1970s. At least in that case, the predictions were wrong.

Astute observations brother. Central economic planning just doesn't work. Good thing we have people like Ron Paul, Peter Schiff, Lew Rockwell, etc. that help the scales fall from our eyes.

I always wonder why so many Americans continue to listen to the very same people who told us a year or two ago that we were NOT heading into an economic downturn (i.e. the Federal Reserve and treasury department leadership). Likewise, in looking for solutions, why don't we look to those who predicted this was going to happen (i.e. the Austrian Economists)? If they say it coming because they knew which principles had been violated, then they also should know what fixes we need to make to get back on track. Ron Paul, Peter Schiff, Lew Rockwell, and others should be listened to by more Americans.

I was surprised by how much I liked it, too. In many ways, it’s the sort of movie people complain Hollywood doesn’t make anymore: not dumb, free of objectionable content, and – gasp – sweet.

"The bottom line is that it is government intervention which has caused this shortage."

Amen and Amen!

The real market solution is to eliminate the power of the AMA to limit the number of new doctors entering the field and eliminate the 'practice without a license' penalty. If I chose to go to a veterinarian to set a broken bone it is nobody else's business. If I chose to consume any herb or mineral to treat my pain it is nobody else's business.

My son has Aspergers. Those with this condition have a very difficult time reading social cues, understanding body language, etc. I can't prove it, but I'd believe this condition was caused by vaccines injected into him while this an infant (we approved those at the time because we were ignorant).

I wonder if some of those of your demographic also have some form of Aspergers? I wonder how much of the environment (TV, internet, etc.) also causes this rudeness?

Mormon Paleo,

I was wondering what you think of Joseph Smith's presidential platform? I just did a post on it at http://www.mormonheretic.org/2009/04/21/joseph-smiths-presidential-platform/

I don’t know a lot about this subject but a thought popped in as I skimmed. I think one of the main issues for our founding fathers was taxation without representation. I don’t know that they wanted to entirely remove taxes so much as make them based on the needs of those being affected by them. So are we being properly represented? If not how could it be remedied? (these questions are more rhetorical then anything)
